Have your Birthday Party at Champion Taekwondo Center!
The party includes a jumper, games, Martial Arts demonstrations, and time to eat and open presents. Parties are designed for students age 2-13. Parents are responsible for food and decorations. A one-hour, 30 min. party = $99 (+ tax). Tell your friends and family, because anyone can schedule a party (you do not have to be a CTC member).
Programs at CTC
- Olympic-style Taekwondo: For students age 3+. Taekwondo classes are arranged according to age and rank. We teach the sport of Taekwondo (sparring techniques and strategies), even though students are not required to compete. In these classes, 95% of the techniques taught are kicking techniques, and 5% are hand techniques. These classes are a great work out and a lot of fun!
- MMA Classes: For students age 14 and older. Students learn hand and feet strikes, grappling, ground and pound, conditioning, etc. To participate, you must purchase our equipment packages. There are three MMA classes per week.
- Combat Hapkido Classes: For students age 7 and older. Learn common sense, street-wise self defense (including joint locks, stand-up fighting, close quarter defense, striking, verbal defusions, and psychological defensive training) through a belt-ranked system. On Fridays, bring your protective gear for street fighting/defense. In order to test, students must be International Combat Hapkido Federation (ICHF) members ($35 annually).
- Weapons Classes: For students age 7 and older. This belt-ranked system teaches basic moves for various Martial Arts weapons. The Weapons taught include single & double stick, sword, staff, kama, single & double nunchaku, sai, cane, and twin broad sword. Weapon students also enjoy War Games played in class, and sparring with foam weapons.
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes: For students age 7 and older. Learn the sport of grappling and ground fighting. Students must wear a blue gi, which we sell at the CTC pro shop. To belt test, you must be an international Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Association (IBJJA) member ($40 annual fee).
- Taekwondo Sparring: Sparring class for all ages and ranks is on Thursdays 6:30-7:30 pm. The required protective gear includes a foam helmet (red, blue, or white), a hogu (chest protector), groin cup (required for males, optional for females), shin and instep pads, arm pads, hand protectors, and a mouth piece. We sell all the gear in our pro shop. Have your gear on prior to class beginning. Orange belts and higher are required to spar in order to test for the next belt. We follow the rules established by the WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) and USA Taekwondo (USAT). For one sparring class per month, we use our computerized, electronic scoring, so students will get competition experience, just like the National events.
- Character Counts: For students age 3-12. This is a reward chart for parents to fill out daily to help students work on good habits (homework, chores, etc.). Get a chart at the beginning of each month. Each month, students will receive an award if they fulfill the requirements.
- Splits Club: Improve your flexibility by doing the left, right, and middle splits. Once you can do them all the way down, you will receive a uniform patch.
Students and Parents, please adhere to the following rules:
- An adult must be present when your child is getting a private lesson. Please do not drop off your child and leave.
- Please try to keep the noise down on the bleachers during class, especially when Master Ballard is explaining techniques and making announcements. If you are loud, that is unfair to those students who are paying for that class.
- Taekwondo orange belts are required to attend at least 4 sparring classes before they can test for their green belt.
- For Sparring and Hapkido classes, come 10 minutes early to stretch so class can begin promptly.
- All students must bow at the door when you enter and leave the school, when you see a black belt, and when you step on and off the training floor (mats).
- Only CTC t-shirts can be worn in class.
- If you are late or forget your belt, you should do 20 push-ups before you start class.
- NO food or drinks are allowed in the school.
- Come to class with clean feet and clipped nails (no white showing). Please do not wear jewelry during class.
- If you have any cuts or cracks on your feet, tape them BEFORE class, and wear socks and/or shoes. Bring your own tape and band-aids.
- If you are feeling sick or may have something contagious (pink eye, st rep throat, etc.), do not come to CTC. Please stay home until you are feeling better.
- Green belts (and higher) can only assist at the Tigers, 5 pm, or 5:45 pm classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Please do not smoke near the front door.
Assistants
Green, blue, and red belts should assist one class per week so you will have enough assists by your next test. All assistants need to wear a full uniform! When you are assisting, try to help students as much as possible by showing them how to do techniques correctly, and by giving them encouragement/praise. Remember that red belts are required to assist at four TKD tests per belt.
Uniforms
Remember that you must wear a white uniform for Taekwondo classes, a black uniform for Hapkido classes, a red uniform for the Weapons classes, and a blue gi for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes.
